An annual culture and music festival that turns Savigliano into an open space for music, art and meeting. It brings concerts and creative events to the old town in summer.
Savigliano is located in the province of Cuneo in southern Piedmont, situated on a fertile plain between the Maira and Varaita rivers. The city's history dates back to Roman times as Salvianum, and it flourished during the Middle Ages and Renaissance as a significant center for the House of Savoy. Its architectural centerpiece is Piazza Santarosa, a photogenic square featuring medieval arcades and historic buildings like Palazzo Muratori-Cravetta, known for its magnificent Mannerist facade and courtyard. Savigliano is deeply connected to railway history, having produced locomotives and railcars since 1853; today, the city houses the Piedmontese Railway Museum, showcasing an impressive collection of historic rolling stock. The city also serves as an academic hub, hosting a satellite campus of the University of Turin. Culturally, the Milanollo Theater, built in 1836, is a neoclassical gem. Savigliano continues to maintain strong agricultural traditions alongside industrial innovation in high-speed rail technology.
