Sant'Angelo is arguably the most easy on the eye and exclusive village on the island of Ischia. Originally a humble fishing settlement, this appealing car-free enclave is characterized by pastel-colored houses stacked against the steep slopes, leading down to a quaint harbor. The village is connected to a small volcanic islet with a ruined tower by a narrow strip of dark sand, creating a panoramic and unique geographical feature. The coastline around Sant'Angelo is renowned for its volcanic sands. Visitors can relax at Spiaggia di Sant'Angelo, a small but inviting beach right by the bustling harbor. For a more extensive beach experience, the famous Maronti beach stretches for kilometers nearby, known for its dark sand and natural fumaroles. Additionally, the sheltered bay of Cava Grado gives a more intimate setting, accessible via a scenic pathway and surrounded by steep cliffs. Without the noise of cars, Sant'Angelo has a profoundly tranquil atmosphere. The village is a maze of narrow alleys filled with high-end boutiques and excellent seafood restaurants. Accessible only by foot or electric cart in its center, it is a premier destination for relaxation.
