Weather…

Monte Vettore, at 2,476 m, is the highest peak of the Monti Sibillini in the Marche region, central Italy. It is part of the Monti Sibillini National Park. The mountain is composed of limestone and is known for its steep cliffs and karst phenomena. Monte Vettore is, according to legend, the place where the Sibyl, a mythical prophetess, lived. The summit area is characterized by the glacial cirque Circo dell'Angelo and the Laghi di Pilato lakes at about 1,940 m, the only natural lakes in Marche. Vegetation includes beech forests and alpine grasslands. Wildlife is rich, with species such as chamois, golden eagle, and wolf. The area was struck by a severe earthquake in 2016 that destroyed surrounding villages like Amatrice and Accumoli. The mountain is a popular destination for hikers and climbers, with challenging routes requiring technical skill. The summit provides a wide view of the Adriatic Sea and the Abruzzo region.
