💡 Tips

  • The famous Fiordo di Furore is best visited early morning before the sun gets too hot and crowds arrive.
  • Parking is virtually non-existent near the fjord; use the Sita bus from Amalfi instead.
  • Don't miss the colorful murals painted on the houses along the main road in the upper village.
  • Furore is a vertical village connected by steep staircases; walking between the fjord level and the upper village is quite a workout!

🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots

🛍
Amalfi Coast Lemons (Sfusato Amalfitano)

Buy these famously huge, sweet lemons from fresh fruit stalls along the roadside.

🧘
Sentiero dei Nidi di Corvo

A significantly less crowded hiking trail offering spectacular sea views.

🧘
Furore paese

Wander through the upper village among the painted houses, far away from the busy coastal road.

Furore is often called 'the village that doesn't exist' because its houses are scattered along the steep cliffs of the Amalfi Coast without a central square. This UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its 'murales', colorful paintings that decorate the building facades, turning the village into an open-air gallery. Vertical gardens and terraced vineyards produce some of the region's best wines, known as Costa d'Amalfi DOC. The absolute highlight is The Fiord of Furore (Fiordo di Furore). It is actually a ria, a narrow bay created by the Schiato stream carved deep into the rock. A 30-meter-high bridge spans the gorge and serves as a venue for international cliff-diving competitions. The tiny beach at the end of the fjord is accessible only via steep stairs, offering a dramatic backdrop with ancient fisherman houses built directly into the cliffside. Beyond the fjord, Furore provides numerous hiking trails, such as the 'Path of Love' or the 'Path of Agaves', providing dramatic views of the sea. The atmosphere here is much quieter than in neighboring Positano or Amalfi, making it a great retreat for nature lovers and romantics. Local cuisine features dishes like 'Totani e patate' (squid and potatoes) and handmade pasta.
