Chabahar Port (Iran)

Weather…

Chabahar is Iran's only oceanic port, located in the Sistan and Baluchestan province along the Gulf of Oman. Situated outside the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, the port enjoys strategic security and provides direct access to the Indian Ocean. It is a central element of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), serving as a vital trade hub for India, Afghanistan, and landlocked Central Asian nations. The port consists of two main complexes: Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti. In recent years, massive investments, particularly from India, have been made to expand its capacity for container ships and bulk carriers. Chabahar is also designated as a Free Trade-Industrial Zone, promoting the establishment of manufacturing and transit companies. Economically, the port is intended to drive the development of Iran's less-developed eastern regions. The planned railway link to Zahedan will further boost the port's logistical importance for transit traffic to Central Asia.
