Fürstenfeldbruck, often affectionately referred to simply as "Bruck" by locals, is idyllically situated on the banks of the Amper River in the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills, beautifully combining historical splendor with natural tranquility. The undisputed landmark and spiritual centerpiece of the town is the former Cistercian Abbey of Fürstenfeld. The accompanying Baroque abbey church of the Assumption of Mary is a true masterpiece of southern German sacred architecture, leaving visitors in awe with its opulent interior decorations, magnificent frescoes, and majestic facade. Today, the extensive abbey complex serves as an animated cultural center that hosts high-profile concerts, theatrical performances, and atmospheric markets throughout the year. A stroll into the historic old town leads across the scenic Amper bridge to the Leonhardiplatz, framed by the Old Town Hall and traditional Bavarian patrician houses. On warmer days, the unspoiled riverbanks of the Amper provide an excellent setting for extensive cycling tours or a refreshing canoe trip. Culinarily, visitors can treat themselves to authentic Bavarian specialties like Obatzda and fresh pretzels in one of the town's many traditional, shaded beer gardens.
