Olching is located west of Munich in the Upper Bavarian district of Fürstenfeldbruck. In recent decades, the city has evolved from a rural village into a modern residential town within the catchment area of the Bavarian state capital. A central element of the city's geography is the Amper river, whose floodplain landscapes represent important local recreation areas and shape the cityscape. Olching is particularly famous for its bird park, which houses a variety of exotic and native bird species and attracts visitors from across the region. Its convenient location on the S-Bahn line to Munich makes Olching especially attractive for commuters. Culturally, the city provides a spirited club life and traditional events such as the Olching Volksfest. Despite rapid growth, Olching has maintained a high recreational value, supported by surrounding lakes like Olchinger See, which is a popular swimming spot in summer. The city administration places great emphasis on sustainability and the preservation of the Amper's natural river landscapes.
