Zell im Wiesental is located in the far southwest of Germany in the state of Baden-Württemberg, positioned in the valleys of the Southern Black Forest. During the 19th century, the town rose to prominence as a central hub for the Baden textile industry, an era that left a lasting mark on its architecture with grand factory owners' villas and worker housing. Culturally, Zell is famous as the birthplace of Constanze Weber, who would later become the wife of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A monument and various exhibits in the town honor her memory and the Weber family's musical heritage. Its geographic position in the Wiese Valley makes it a handy base for hiking and exploring peaks like the Feldberg and Belchen. Following the decline of the textile sector, Zell successfully transitioned into a modern service and residential town, bolstered by excellent S-Bahn connections to Lörrach and Basel in Switzerland. The town is also known for its lively Alemannic Fasnacht (carnival), celebrated with traditional costumes and parades each year.
