Romilly-sur-Seine is a significant town in the west of the Aube department within the Grand Est region. Its history is inextricably linked to the industrial revolution, particularly the textile industry. During the 19th century, the town evolved into the heart of French hosiery production, which brought prosperity and rapid population growth. Geographically, the town benefits from its position at the confluence of the Seine and other smaller waterways, making it a strategic point for trade and transportation. Beyond textiles, the railway plays a central role today, as Romilly is a major maintenance site for the French national railway SNCF. The cityscape reflects its industrial character but also provides extensive green spaces along the river. Culturally, the town is deeply committed to promoting local traditions and provides modern leisure facilities for its residents and visitors.
