Sainte-Sigolène is located in the east of the Haute-Loire department, in the historical Velay region. The town has a remarkable economic history: in the 19th century, it was a major center for silk production and weaving. Following the decline of this sector, the town achieved an impressive transformation into modern industry. Today, Sainte-Sigolène is regarded as the heart of the French plastic industry, particularly for flexible packaging. This industrial strength in a primarily rural, mountainous area is a unique feature of the municipality. Geographically, the town sits on a plateau of the Massif Central, providing it with a healthy climate and expansive views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Despite its industrial focus, the town has preserved its charm and has a high quality of life with numerous sports and recreational opportunities in nature. Culturally, the town is proud of its industrial history, which is celebrated in local initiatives and museums. Sainte-Sigolène impressively demonstrates how technical progress and rural tradition can harmonize in the Auvergne region.
