Le Péage-de-Roussillon is located on the left bank of the Rhône and is a historically developed transport hub. The town's name points to its medieval significance as a toll station (Péage), where fees were collected for crossing the river or transporting goods. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the municipality developed into a significant industrial site, particularly within the Roussillon chemical industry platform. Today's economic structure is shaped by large chemical companies and logistical operations that benefit from the excellent connection to the A7 motorway and the Paris-Lyon-Marseille railway line. Despite its industrial character, the town has access to the natural spaces of the Rhône Valley and is a starting point for exploring the surrounding wine regions. The city administration continuously invests in modernizing the city center and improving the quality of life for residents. Culturally, the town is closely linked to neighboring communities and forms a central hub for services in the region.
