Old Port of Luba (Equatorial Guinea)

Weather…

The Old Port of Luba is a historic maritime site on the western coast of Bioko Island, situated in a naturally sheltered deep-water bay. During the colonial era, Luba was a major port for the export of precious hardwoods and cocoa from the southern and western regions of the island. The site still preserves some remains of the early 20th-century port infrastructure, including old cranes and docks that speak to its former industrial importance. Luba was a critical economic center for the Bubi people, and the port served as their primary link to the outside world. Today, the old port area provides a nostalgic look at the island's maritime past and the early organization of its export economy. Curriculum: History K7, Economics K8.
