Old Palace of Moca (Equatorial Guinea)

Weather…

The Old Palace of Moca is a historic mountain retreat located at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters on the Moca Plateau of Bioko Island. Originally built as a summer residence for Spanish colonial governors, its architecture was inspired by European mountain lodges, designed to offer an escape from the heat and humidity of the coastal regions. The palace overlooks the dramatic Biao crater and the surrounding volcanic landscapes, providing a serene and scenic environment. Historically, Moca was a center for high-altitude agriculture and was significant in the island's colonial administration. Today, the remains of the palace stand as a reminder of the island's unique mountain heritage and its former role in the colonial power structure. Curriculum: History K8, Geography K7.
