Bahía de las Águilas (Dominican Republic)

Weather…

Bahía de las Águilas is an eight-kilometer-long bay located within the Jaragua National Park on the southwestern coast of the Dominican Republic. It is widely considered one of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in the world, as it is situated far from major tourist hubs and contains no permanent structures. The landscape is characterized by an arid, desert-like climate with cacti and limestone cliffs that provide a sharp contrast to the deep blue and turquoise waters. Geologically, the bay provides critical habitats for endangered species such as West Indian manatees and green sea turtles. The sand is exceptionally white and consists almost entirely of coral fragments. Due to the national park's protected status, tourism is strictly limited, with visitors typically arriving by boat from the nearby settlement of Cabo Rojo. The isolation of Bahía de las Águilas has been instrumental in preserving the original biodiversity of this coastal region nearly in its entirety.
