💡 Tips
- Taarbæk is a very narrow village with strictly limited parking; it is best to arrive by bicycle or walk from Klampenborg station.
- The village borders Dyrehaven (The Deer Park), making it a convenient starting point for a hike into the woods.
- The small local harbor is authentic and much quieter than other commercial marinas on the coast.
- Houses sit right on the edge of the narrow main street, so it's a good local practice to respect the residents' privacy as you walk by.

Taarbæk is a former fishing village located on the Øresund coast, approximately 12 kilometers north of Copenhagen. It is uniquely situated between the sea and the famous Jægersborg Dyrehaven, a UNESCO World Heritage forest park. The history of the settlement dates back to the 16th century when it was first recorded as a community of local fishermen. During the 19th century, Taarbæk evolved into a popular summer residence for the Copenhagen elite, which is reflected in the grand architecture of its historic villas. The Taarbæk Church, consecrated in 1864, serves as a central landmark for the parish. Despite its proximity to the capital, the village has maintained its maritime character and a quiet atmosphere due to restricted through traffic. Today, it is known for its pretty harbor and its seamless integration with the surrounding royal deer parks.
