Rosenborg Castle (Denmark)

Weather…

Rosenborg Castle is a magnificent Dutch Renaissance palace located in the center of Copenhagen, originally built as a summer residence by King Christian IV in the early 17th century. The construction took place between 1606 and 1633, showcasing the King's architectural ambitions and Flemish-inspired design preferences. Surrounded by the King's Garden (Kongens Have), the oldest royal park in Denmark, the castle features characteristic red brick walls and elegant sandstone trimmings. Since 1838, the palace has housed the Royal Collections, documenting centuries of Danish history through art, furniture, and personal items of the monarchs. Most notably, the castle is the secure repository for the Danish Crown Jewels and the Royal Regalia, kept in a modern treasury in the basement. Visitors can explore the magnificent Knights' Hall, guarded by three life-sized silver lions and featuring tapestries depicting the Scanian War.
