Gammel Estrup Manor (Denmark)

Weather…

Gammel Estrup is a magnificent Renaissance manor house in Jutland with a history spanning over 600 years. From the 14th century, the estate was in the continuous possession of the Scheel family until it was sold in 1926. The current red-brick main building was constructed in the late 15th and early 16th centuries and is surrounded by a double moat system. The architecture is characterized by prominent corner towers and Gothic stepped gables. Today, Gammel Estrup houses two significant museums: the Danish Manor Museum, which documents the luxurious lifestyle of the nobility, and the Green Museum, dedicated to the history of hunting, agriculture, and forestry. The interiors are furnished with valuable tapestries, portraits, and furniture from various periods. The Baroque garden, including its orangery, has been faithfully reconstructed, inviting visitors to experience the historical atmosphere of the Danish landed gentry.
