Djursland is a peninsula in eastern Jutland, known as 'Denmark's playground'. The heart of its tourist attractions is Djurs Sommerland near Nimtofte. It is the largest amusement park in Northern Europe, divided into nine themed areas such as Pirate Land, Viking Land, and Mexicoland. Highlights include the 'Piraten' roller coaster, ranked among the best mega-coasters in the world, and 'Juvelen', Denmark's longest roller coaster. The park is famous for its extensive green areas, good for picnics. Beyond the amusement park, Djursland features an impressive variety of nature. The Mols Bjerge National Park in the south is characterized by glacial hill landscapes, heather, and coastal stretches. Hikers and cyclists find numerous marked routes here. Popular seaside resorts like Grenaa and Ebeltoft lie along the coast. In Grenaa, the Kattegatcentret allows visitors to observe sharks and seals up close. Ebeltoft charms with its historic town hall and the Frigate Jylland, the world's longest wooden ship. Culinarially, Djursland gives fresh agricultural products and game specialties from local forests. The region is easily accessible via Aarhus Airport (Tirstrup) or by ferry from Zealand to Ebeltoft. The best time to visit Djurs Sommerland is from May to September, with July being the busiest time due to school holidays. For nature lovers, spring and the golden October are particularly attractive.
