Trekking almost invariably begins very early in the morning when the misty forest is still cool. Gorillas are typically most active in the morning hours as they forage for their abundant leafy food across the sloping terrain.
Etiquette
Protecting the vulnerable gorillas from human diseases is paramount; visitors must wear surgical masks and maintain a strictly enforced distance of at least seven meters. Flash photography and sudden loud noises are strictly prohibited at all times.
What to bring
Heavy-duty waterproof hiking boots, tough gardening gloves to handle thorny vegetation, and durable long-sleeved clothing are mandatory for the difficult trek. A reliable waterproof cover for your camera bag is also highly advisable.
