Valeč Chateau (Czech Republic)

Weather…

Valeč Chateau in Western Bohemia evolved from a 14th-century Gothic fortress into a major aristocratic seat. It underwent a Renaissance transformation under the Štampach family in the 16th century before being redesigned in the High Baroque style at the end of the 17th century. The chateau is renowned for its expansive park, which was embellished between 1701 and 1711 with a series of allegorical statues from the workshop of Matthias Bernhard Braun. Following World War II, the building served several public roles, including a home for orphans, until a significant fire in 1976 devastated its interior. Current preservation projects are focused on restoring the Baroque architecture and the unique sculptural decorations of the gardens. Today, Valeč stands as a significant cultural monument showcasing the fusion of noble lifestyle and professional Baroque artistry.
