Jihlava Zoo (Czech Republic)

Weather…

The Jihlava Zoo was established in 1957 and is famously known as the 'Zoo without Bars' due to its modern approach of using natural barriers instead of traditional cages. The facility specializes in smaller animal species, particularly primates and smaller cats. Across an area of about 9 hectares, visitors can encounter more than 200 animal species, including rare marmosets and Malayan sun bears. Located in the easy on the eye valley of the Jihlávka River, the zoo is divided into thematic sections representing Africa, Asia, and South America. A unique architectural highlight is the Matongo African village, featuring authentic thatched-roof huts. Beyond animal exhibits, the zoo places a strong emphasis on environmental education and participates in numerous conservation programs for endangered species. Its compact size and barrier-free layout make it a significant educational and recreational center in the Vysočina Region.
