Dukovany Nuclear Power Station (Czech Republic)

Weather…

The Dukovany Nuclear Power Station (EDU) is the oldest operating nuclear facility in the Czech Republic, located in the Vysočina Region near the town of Třebíč. The plant comprises four units equipped with VVER-440 pressurized water reactors, which were commissioned between 1985 and 1987. With a total installed capacity of approximately 2,040 megawatts, Dukovany provides between 13% and 15% of the nation's electricity. Despite its decades of operation, the facility remains one of the world's most reliable nuclear plants due to ongoing modernization programs and rigorous safety upgrades. It is a critical economic asset for the region, serving as a major employer and infrastructure supporter. Currently, Dukovany is at the heart of the Czech energy strategy, as it has been selected for the construction of a new generation reactor to ensure the country's long-term energy independence.
