Bohemian Switzerland (Czech Republic)

Weather…

Bohemian Switzerland (České Švýcarsko) is a national park in the northern Czech Republic and part of the larger Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The landscape is famous for its majestic sandstone cliffs, deep gorges, table mountains and rock gates. Its most famous landmark is the Pravčická Gate (Pravčická brána), the largest natural rock gate in Europe. The park is crossed by the river Elbe and its tributaries, such as the Kamenice. A boat trip through the narrow gorges of the Kamenice, the Edmund's Gorge and the Wild Gorge, is an unforgettable experience. The area gives an extensive network of hiking trails that lead to panoramic viewpoints such as Mary's Rock or Rudolf's Rock. The unique geology and rich forests are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. In 2022, a large part of the park was hit by a devastating forest fire, but nature is slowly beginning to recover, showing its resilience.
