Bilichov Nature Reserve (Czech Republic)

Weather…

The Bílichov Nature Reserve, known locally as Bílichovské údolí, is located in Central Bohemia within the Kladno District and was established in 1933. Covering an area of just 1.09 hectares, it is one of the region's smallest protected sites, yet it holds significant ecological value. The primary reason for its protected status is the occurrence of the Giant Horsetail (Equisetum telmateia), which thrives in the moist, marly ditches and slopes of the valley. The area's specific geological composition and microclimate support a unique variety of flora. In addition to the Giant Horsetail, various orchid species and other plants typical of limestone-rich forest soils can be found here. The reserve is managed to ensure the long-term survival of this rare habitat and its specialized biological communities within the larger Džbán Nature Park.
