Bílá Opava Valley (Czech Republic)

Weather…

The valley of the Bílá Opava (White Opava) is one of the most pretty and wildest gorges in the Hrubý Jeseník Mountains. The river has cut deep into the rock here, creating a landscape of waterfalls, cascades and rapids. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads through the gorge, overcoming the steepest sections with the help of wooden bridges, ladders and footbridges directly above the rushing water. This route is demanding, but features unforgettable nature experiences. The gorge is part of the Praděd National Nature Reserve and is home to valuable flora and fauna, including rare species of moss and fern. The trail starts in Karlova Studánka, one of the most beautiful spa towns in the Czech Republic, and leads to the Barborka Hotel, not far from the Praděd peak. In winter, the trail is usually impassable and extremely dangerous due to ice and snow.
