Stiniva Cove (Croatia)

Weather…

Stiniva Cove on Vis Island is one of Croatia's most extraordinary and frequently photographed coastal sites, famous for its spectacular geomorphological structure. The bay is characterized by an extremely narrow entrance from the sea, measuring only about 4 meters wide, flanked by two massive cliffs that rise nearly 30 meters high. Geologically, the cove was formed by the collapse of a huge sea cave's ceiling, with only the side walls remaining today to create this natural hidden harbor. Behind the narrow gateway lies a beautiful white pebble beach, entirely enclosed by steep cliffs that provide natural shade throughout much of the day. Reaching the cove by land is challenging, requiring a steep 20-minute descent down a rugged goat path, so most visitors choose to arrive by boat. Stiniva was declared a protected natural monument in 1967 to preserve its unique geological features and untouched environment. In 2016, it was voted the most beautiful beach in Europe by the European Best Destinations organization.
