Seget Donji was founded in 1564 as a fortified settlement designed to provide protection against Ottoman incursions. The village is remarkable for its unusual architecture: the old core was built following a strict rectangular grid with three longitudinal and cross streets, a rare urban layout on the Dalmatian coast. The central 18th-century church of Our Lady of Konjsko sits at the heart of this historical arrangement. Nowadays, Seget is a favored destination for travelers seeking proximity to the UNESCO-listed city of Trogir while preferring a quieter ambiance. A long seaside promenade stretches along the coast, connecting Seget to the Medena hotel complex, where visitors find numerous pebble beaches and pine forests providing natural shade during summer. The local culinary scene focuses on authentic Dalmatian dishes served in traditional taverns. Fresh Adriatic fish, local olive oil, and wines from the hinterland are staples here. Thanks to its excellent connection to Split Airport and the main highway, Seget is a handy base for exploring the nearby islands of Drvenik Veli and Mali.
