Livade is located in the heart of Istria, at the foot of Motovun hill in the fertile Mirna River valley. The village achieved worldwide fame in 1999 when Giancarlo Zigante found the world's largest white truffle here, earning Livade an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. Since then, the village has been considered the unofficial center of truffle hunting in Istria. Every autumn, the 'Zigante Truffle Days' take place here, a multi-day festival attracting foodies from around the globe. Visitors can taste various types of truffles, participate in organized truffle hunts in the nearby Motovun forest, and buy local products. The village also hosts a specialty shop and a renowned restaurant entirely dedicated to truffle gastronomy. Beyond culinary delights, Livade is a key stop on the 'Parenzana', the former railway line that is now a popular cycling and hiking trail. The flat valley landscape contrasts beautifully with the surrounding hilltop towns. Livade provides a relaxed atmosphere and is the great base for exploring green Istria and its wine and olive oil roads.
