Rakotule is located in the municipality of Karojba in the green heart of Istria. The village is an epitome of Istrian coziness and gives a wide view over the hilly landscape to the medieval town of Motovun. This region is world-famous for its white and black truffles found in the nearby forests of the Mirna Valley. In Rakotule, there are several agrotourism farms where visitors can taste these delicacies along with homemade pasta (Fuži). The village's architecture is typically Istrian, with stone houses and narrow alleys. A special cultural highlight is the Church of Saint Nicholas in the nearby part of Rakotule, which houses valuable medieval frescoes from the 14th century. These frescoes show the influence of Italian painting of that period and are a hidden treasure for art lovers. For active travelers, Rakotule is an excellent starting point. The former Parenzana railway line, which is now a popular cycling and hiking trail, runs nearby. The gentle hills invite long walks through vineyards and olive groves. It is a place where you can fully enjoy the Istrian 'Slow Living' lifestyle, away from the busy coastal towns.
