Kmeti is located in the northwestern part of Istria, just a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast and the town of Umag. The village is a typical example of rural Istria, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The region's red soil (Terra Rossa) is convenient for cultivating high-quality wine varieties such as Malvazija and Teran. The settlement is a paradise for cyclists, with several marked bike trails leading through the gentle hilly landscape. In recent years, Kmeti has developed into a center for agritourism, where visitors can taste local specialties directly at the farms. These include homemade pršut, truffle dishes, and top-quality olive oil. Due to its proximity to the Slovenian border, Kmeti is also easily accessible for day-trippers from Central Europe. It is a handy spot for those who want to enjoy the tranquility of the hinterland without being far from the beaches and amenities of Umag. The traditional Istrian stone house architecture has been well-preserved here.
