Kaštel Štafilić is the westernmost settlement of the Kaštela Bay, located directly adjacent to the town of Trogir. The village was founded in the 16th century by nobleman Stjepan Štafilić from Trogir, who built the Rotondo fortress as a defense against the Ottoman threat. This fortification, standing directly on the shore, remains the symbol of the town today, with the unique feature that its foundations partially rest in the sea. One of the town's most remarkable sights is a methuselah-aged olive tree called 'Mastrinka', estimated to be over 1,500 years old. The tree has stood here since the 4th century AD and still bears fruit every year, from which special oil is pressed. This natural monument symbolizes the region's agricultural past, as the Kaštela area has been famous for its wine and olive oil for centuries. Visitors can enjoy long pebble beaches, such as Gabine beach, which is popular with locals and tourists alike. Split Airport is easily accessible from the town, making it a handy destination for those wishing to reach their accommodation quickly. Walking along the seaside promenade, all seven Kaštela settlements can be explored, revealing Renaissance castles and the Dalmatian way of life. It is worth tasting the local wines, especially the Crljenak Kaštelanski variety, which is the ancestor of the Californian Zinfandel.
