Weather…

Fortica Pag is a historical fortress ruin that guards the strategically vital passage between Pag Island and the mainland at the Ljubač Strait. Built in the 15th century, the fortress was designed to monitor maritime traffic and defend the island against pirates, Ottoman invaders, and Venetian naval forces. It is situated on a barren, rocky elevation directly above the modern Pag Bridge, providing an expansive vantage point over the Velebit Channel. The architecture of the Fortica was strictly functional and robust, built to withstand the region's harsh weather and the powerful 'bora' winds. Although only portions of the foundations and the main tower remain today, they testify to the site's significant military role in the past. Historically, the fort also functioned as a signaling station, using visual cues to communicate with other watchtowers along the coastline. Nowadays, the ruins are a favorite destination for hikers and photographers drawn to the stark landscape and historical resonance of the site.
