Drašnice is an appealing fishing village south of Makarska. The settlement stretches along the coast, with its old core situated higher up the slope, a testament to the days when residents sought protection from pirates. Following the 1962 earthquake, most people relocated directly to the sea. The 15th-century Church of St. George (Sv. Juraj) in the old part of the village is a significant cultural monument. The beaches in Drašnice are among the cleanest in the region. Soline beach is particularly popular, offering shallow waters and natural shade from pine trees. Small cafes and restaurants line the waterfront, serving fresh fish and local olive oil, for which the area has been famous for centuries. For active travelers, the Biokovo Mountain in the hinterland gives numerous opportunities. Hiking trails lead to old shepherd huts and provide spectacular views of the islands of Brač and Hvar. Drašnice has maintained its quiet character and is convenient for families wishing to avoid the bustle of the larger towns on the Riviera.
