Banjevci is situated on a hill overlooking Lake Vrana, the largest natural lake in Croatia. The village has a long settlement history dating back to the Stone Age. The most significant historical site is the 12th-century Church of Saint John the Baptist (Sveti Ivan Krstitelj), an excellent example of Romanesque architecture in Dalmatia. Remains of medieval fortresses are also found nearby. The location directly by the nature park makes Banjevci a paradise for ornithologists and anglers. Lake Vrana is an important bird sanctuary, home to over 250 species. Well-developed cycling and hiking trails lead from the village to the Kamenjak viewpoint, offering a spectacular view over the lake and the Kornati archipelago.
