Banjevci is situated on a hill overlooking Lake Vrana, the largest natural lake in Croatia. The village has a long settlement history dating back to the Stone Age. The most significant historical site is the 12th-century Church of Saint John the Baptist (Sveti Ivan Krstitelj), an excellent example of Romanesque architecture in Dalmatia.
