Metropolitan Cathedral of Medellín (Colombia)

Weather…

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Medellín, officially known as the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, is an architectural masterpiece located in the heart of the city. Built between 1875 and 1931, it is widely considered the largest building in the world constructed entirely from solid baked bricks. The design was created by French architect Charles Émile Carré, following a Neo-Romanesque style featuring distinctive round arches and two prominent towers. An estimated 1.1 million bricks, manufactured locally, were used in its construction. The cathedral is situated on the north side of Bolívar Park and serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Medellín. Its interior features high vaulted ceilings, a massive German-made pipe organ, and exquisite stained-glass windows. As a National Monument of Colombia, it remains a central site for religious celebrations and a key attraction for visitors exploring the city's historical heritage.
