Coltejer Building (Colombia)

Weather…

The Coltejer Building (Edificio Coltejer) is the most famous skyscraper in Medellín and for many years held the record as the tallest building in Colombia. Completed in 1972, the structure stands 175 meters tall and consists of 36 floors. Its architecture is particularly distinctive, featuring a pointed top that resembles a sewing needle, symbolizing the historical importance of the textile industry to the region. Coltejer was one of the largest textile companies in Latin America, and the building served as its corporate headquarters. The facade is constructed from aluminum and glass, giving the tower a timeless, modern aesthetic. It is located at the intersection of Carrera Junín and Avenida La Playa in the city's bustling downtown area. Although it has since been surpassed by taller buildings in Bogotá, it remains a proud icon of Medellín. The lower floors house retail spaces and offices that continue to contribute to the city's economic life.
