Puerto Natales
Puerto Natales is a friendly, windswept town in the Patagonian region, primarily serving as the basecamp for hikers heading to the Torres del Paine National Park. The town is situated on the shores of the Última Esperanza (Last Hope) Fjord, offering unparalleled views of snow-capped mountains and the bay's waters. Over the last decades, the settlement has grown from a quiet fishing village into an animated tourist hub. For visitors, Puerto Natales has numerous excellent restaurants and cafes where they can taste local specialties, such as king crab or the famous Patagonian roast lamb. The town's atmosphere is both adventurous and relaxed, with colorful corrugated iron houses and wooden piers giving the streets a unique charm. Boat trips depart from the town towards the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, which are located in the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park. The best time to travel here is between October and April, when the weather is more favorable for hiking and sailing.
