Ngozi, located in northern Burundi, is a key regional center and the capital of the province of the same name. Situated at an elevation of about 1,800 meters, the city is the heartland of Burundian coffee production, where fertile volcanic soils and ample rainfall provide convenient conditions for Arabica coffee cultivation. Developed as an administrative post during the colonial era, the city has since evolved into one of the most densely populated regions in the country. Ngozi is home to the University of Ngozi, one of Burundi's most significant private educational institutions, founded in 1999. The Diocese of Ngozi, established as early as 1959, bears witness to the city's long religious tradition. The cityscape features bustling markets and growing infrastructure, making Ngozi an important hub for education and trade. Numerous coffee washing stations in the area play a central role in the quality control of Burundian exports.
