Badas is a historically significant location in the Belait District, known primarily for its role in Brunei's early industrial development. At the beginning of the 20th century, a narrow-gauge railway was built here to transport equipment and personnel to the emerging oil fields in Seria. One of the most important facilities on site is the Badas Waterworks, which plays a crucial role in supplying the Belait District with drinking water. The settlement is situated amidst a swamp and peat landscape that hosts unique flora and fauna, including rare orchid species. Geographically, Badas is located south of the coastal region and is accessible via a side road from the main link between Seria and Mumong. Despite its small population, Badas remains an essential part of Brunei's regional infrastructure due to its vital supply function and pioneering industrial history.
