Valle de la Concepción Wine Region (Bolivia)

Weather…

Valle de la Concepción, also known as Uriondo, is the heart of the Bolivian wine region in the Tarija Department. The vineyards are situated at an extraordinary altitude of approximately 1,700 to 2,000 meters above sea level, making them among the highest commercial viticultural areas in the world. This extreme location ensures intense UV radiation and cool nights, giving the grapes a unique concentration of aromas and antioxidants. The tradition of winemaking dates back to the colonial era of the 16th century, when Spanish Jesuits introduced the first vines. Today, the region is famous for its Singani, a clear grape spirit made from Muscat of Alexandria grapes, as well as for high-quality red and white wines. Every year in March, the 'Vendimia' takes place here, a major wine festival celebrating the cultural and economic importance of viticulture for the local population.
