Zaslawye, one of the oldest cities in Belarus, was founded in 985 by Prince Vladimir the Great for his wife Rogneda and son Iziaslav. Located approximately 27 kilometers northwest of Minsk, the town is home to a major historical and cultural reserve of national importance. A key landmark is the Savior Transfiguration Church, built in the late 16th century as a Calvinist temple within the grounds of a former fortified castle. The archaeological site of Zamechak marks the original 10th-century settlement, showcasing early Slavic fortification techniques and residential structures. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Zaslawye served as a significant center for the Protestant Reformation within the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Today, the city preserves its medieval street layout and functions as an open-air museum of Belarusian heritage. Visitors can explore ancient ramparts and numerous museum exhibitions that illustrate the town's millennium-long historical journey.
