Red Church (Saints Simon and Helena) (Belarus)

Weather…

The Church of Saints Simon and Helena, widely recognized as the Red Church, is one of the most prominent and beloved religious landmarks in central Minsk. Constructed from distinct red bricks in the Neo-Romanesque style, the building was completed in 1910 through a generous donation by nobleman Edward Woyniłłowicz in memory of his two prematurely deceased children. During the Soviet era, the church suffered the fate of many religious buildings, being secularized and repurposed first as a theater and later as a cinema. In 1990, the building was finally returned to the Roman Catholic community and underwent meticulous restoration. Today, the striking red facade stands as a symbol of faith and resilience, accompanied by the famous Nagasaki Bell monument situated in the adjacent square.
