Bangladesh Taj Mahal (Bangladesh)

Weather…

The Bangladesh Taj Mahal, locally known as Taj Mahal BD, is a scale replica of the famous Indian Taj Mahal located in Sonargaon, near Dhaka. The project was completed in 2008 by Bangladeshi filmmaker Ahsanullah Moni, with the aim of bringing the splendor of the original to the people of his country who might not be able to afford a trip to India. The construction took five years and involved the use of high-quality marble and granite from Italy, along with precious stones imported from Belgium. While smaller than the original in Agra, it captures the iconic symmetry and architectural details, including the four minarets and the central dome. The complex also features sprawling gardens, water pools, and a nearby film studio and replica of the Egyptian pyramids. Despite initial controversies regarding copyright issues, the structure has become a popular leisure destination for locals and tourists alike. It stands as a testament to cultural exchange and the desire to make world-renowned landmarks accessible to a broader audience.
