The market town of Völs is situated in the Inn Valley, directly at the western border of Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. The history of Völs dates back millennia, evidenced by Bronze Age archaeological finds and Roman relics. Of particular significance is the Völs lake settlement, a prehistoric site that sheds light on early human habitation in the region. During the Middle Ages, Völs was an important stop along the Salt Road. The town's landmark is the St. Blaise Church atop the Blasiusberg, which features spectacular views over the middle Inn Valley and the Nordkette mountain range. Throughout the 20th century, Völs transformed from a rural village into a modern economic hub. The establishment of the Cyta shopping center and numerous businesses in the commercial park turned Völs into one of Tyrol's financially strongest municipalities. Despite this economic dynamism, Völs has preserved valuable local recreation areas. The Völser Badl swimming pool and the hiking trails in the Völser Au area provide relaxation in nature. Excellent transport links via the Inntal highway and the S-Bahn suburban railway make Völs a preferred residential area for those who value proximity to the city while living in a green environment.
