Water temperature…
Ehrwald sits in a broad, sunny valley at the foot of the Wetterstein mountains and the Mieminger range. As the largest town in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, it serves as the base for the Tyrolean Zugspitze Cable Car, which whisks visitors to the 2,962-meter summit in just ten minutes. The town's heritage is rooted in mining and forestry, still visible in its traditional architecture. A unique cultural highlight is the UNESCO-listed mountain fires during the summer solstice, where giant flaming symbols illuminate the surrounding peaks. The Ehrwalder Alm ski area is highly regarded for its family-friendly slopes, while the Wettersteinbahnen offer more technical terrain closer to the village. Summer visitors are drawn to Seebensee, widely considered one of Tyrol's most beautiful alpine lakes, tucked away below the dramatic Sonnenspitze peak. Hikers often continue from there to the Coburger Hütte. The village also features a modern indoor climbing hall and a public pool area. Regional culinary delights include Speckknödel and the famous Kaiserschmarrn pancake. Ehrwald is easily accessible from Garmisch-Partenkirchen or via the Fern Pass. The most spectacular time to visit is late June for the solstice fires and mid-winter for its extensive cross-country skiing network.
