Casa d'Areny-Plandolit

Casa d'Areny-Plandolit in Ordino is the only example of a manor house in Andorra that has almost completely preserved its original grandeur and furnishings. With origins dating back to 1633, the house was the ancestral home of the Areny-Plandolit family, one of the country's most powerful dynasties, who derived their wealth primarily from the iron trade and the operation of forges (fargues) during the 18th and 19th centuries. A tour of the building leads visitors through magnificent halls, an impressive library containing thousands of volumes, and even a private theater, all of which highlight the family's high social status. The rooms are equipped with authentic furniture and personal belongings that offer a deep insight into the aristocratic life of that era. Of particular importance is the role of Don Guillem d'Areny-Plandolit, who led the 'New Reform' in Andorra during the 19th century, paving the way for the modern political system.
