The facility primarily utilizes recycled scrap metal to produce construction steel and other metallic products for both the domestic market and export across the Balkans. Despite its economic contribution, the mill remains a significant environmental challenge for the city of Elbasan, leading to recurring protests and calls for stricter air filtration systems.
