Fortín Solano is an 18th-century military fortress located in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State. It was built in 1766 by order of Captain General José Solano y Bote and is considered the last military construction erected during the colonial era in Venezuela. The fortress is situated on a strategic hill within the San Esteban National Park, offering a panoramic view of the city and the Caribbean Sea. Its main purpose was to protect the city and the port from potential maritime attacks by foreign powers. The Fortín stands out for its robust stone construction and its star-shaped layout, typical of military architecture at the time. During the War of Independence and subsequent internal conflicts, it was the scene of significant battles and sieges. Following an extensive restoration, the facility is now a major tourist attraction and hosts cultural exhibits. Visitors can explore the old casemates, watchposts, and cannon platforms.
