El Palito Refinery (Venezuela)

Weather…

The El Palito Refinery is located on the coast of Carabobo State, near Puerto Cabello, and is a central element of the Venezuelan energy landscape. It was commissioned in 1960 by the Mobil Oil Company and passed into state ownership in 1976 following the nationalization of the oil industry. With a processing capacity of approximately 140.000 barrels per day, it primarily supplies the densely populated regions of central and western Venezuela with gasoline and other fuels. The facility is connected via pipelines to the Puerto Cabello oil terminal and eastern oil fields. Key technical units include distillation plants, catalytic crackers, and alkylation units. Historically, El Palito was the first refinery in Venezuela to introduce a computer-controlled operation room. Its geographic location directly on the Caribbean Sea is strategically important for the distribution of products by sea. Despite operational interruptions, the refinery remains an indispensable player for the country's economic stability and regional energy supply.
