The Municipal Palace of Caracas, also known as the City Hall, is a site of immense historical significance for the Venezuelan nation. This location once housed the Santa Rosa de Lima Seminary College, in whose chapel the Declaration of Independence of Venezuela was signed on July 5, 1811. The current building was completed in the late 19th century in a neoclassical style and serves as the seat of the Mayor of Caracas. Its architecture is characterized by a symmetrical facade, Corinthian columns, and an elegant interior courtyard. Inside, the palace houses the Museum of Caracas, which exhibits valuable historical documents, paintings, and scale models of the city from the colonial era. The Chapel Hall, where independence was proclaimed, is open to the public and is considered a hallowed site of the Republic. Located on the south side of Plaza Bolívar, the palace forms an essential part of the capital's monumental core.
